Axion are recycling specialists, who operate a plant which processes waste electronics and end of life vehicles into recycled plastic pellets. This recycling expertise translates perfectly to the #ISOPREP project, where Axion’s engineers have worked to characterise the infeed streams – i.e. the carpet waste itself – using a handheld NIR gun.
This work led to the development of a pre-screening process prior to the existing mechanical separation stages, which Axion designed and developed along with consortium partners. This process aims to enrich the PP content of the carpet and reduce the level of contamination to improve the quality of the final product.
